With temperatures steadily rising and summer around the corner, Gatorade is getting ready to kick off its ninth annual “Beat the Heat” campaign. Beginning on May 28 and running through Labor Day, the "Beat the Heat" program aims to educate athletes, coaches and parents on the importance of heat safety and hydration during athletic activity.
This year, the program boasts an all-star list of athletes and influencers who will serve as spokespeople throughout the three-month campaign. To kick off the program, Gatorade athletes J.J. Watt and Cam Newton will conduct national media interviews with top-tier print, online and broadcast outlets. As the summer rolls on, a number of additional athletes from the National Football League and Major League Soccer to NASCAR will also help raise awareness of the importance of hydration during the summer sports season. Additionally, heat safety experts and sports dietitians from across the country will conduct media interviews on behalf of the program.
A heat safety kit is available for download on Gatorade.com with expert tips and recommendations for helping young athletes stay safe in the heat this summer.
